Maclear verification consists of two parts: identity verification (KYC) and proof of address (POA). KYC must be completed first; POA unlocks deposits and investing. Both are mandatory before any financial activity on the platform.

Which documents can I use as proof of identity on Maclear?

One of the following:

  • Passport
  • National ID card
  • Residence permit

All documents must be valid, government-issued, and not expired or expiring within one month.

Which documents are accepted as proof of address (POA) on Maclear?

Any of the following, issued within the last 3 months and clearly showing your full name and residential address:

  • Government statement, voter registration document, or tax bill
  • Utility bill or telecom bill
  • Bank letter or bank statement (neobank documents are not accepted automatically — see below)
  • Mobile operator bill or statement
  • Lease agreement (must be currently active)

Passports, national ID cards, and residence permits are not accepted as proof of address.

What is NOT accepted as Proof of Address on Maclear?

The following are common submission mistakes that will result in rejection:

  • Screenshots of online banking instead of a downloaded PDF statement
  • Documents older than 3 months
  • Email notifications, order confirmations, or delivery notices
  • Documents that do not show your full residential address
  • Documents that do not show your full name
  • Neobank statements (e.g. Revolut, N26, Monzo) — not accepted automatically; if this is your only available document, contact support@maclear.ch for manual review
  • Documents issued in a name different from your Maclear account
  • Cropped, edited, or partially visible documents

Can I send a scan or photo of my passport to Maclear?

No. Verification is done in real time through Sumsub and requires live photo capture directly in the app. Static scans or pre-taken photos are not accepted.

Can I cover up information in my passport/ID/POA for Maclear verification?

No. All information on your document must remain fully visible. Covering or blurring any field will result in rejection.

What should I do if I changed my residential address?

To update your address, send a new POA document to support@maclear.ch. The document must meet the standard requirements: issued within the last 3 months and clearly showing your full name and new residential address.

Which countries are supported for Maclear investor verification?

Maclear is available to residents of 44 European and EEA countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Residents of countries not on this list cannot complete KYC or access the platform's investment features. Eligibility is determined by country of residence, confirmed during identity verification.

Why did my Maclear verification fail and how to fix it?

Maclear verification typically fails for one of three reasons: a document that is expired, blurry, or has cropped corners; a selfie obscured by glasses, a hat, or poor lighting; or a submitted scan or screenshot instead of a live photo through Sumsub. Most rejections are resolved by retaking the photo on a smartphone in good lighting and resubmitting immediately.
