How to restore access to Maclear if you lost your 2FA code

If you have lost access to your 2FA code on Maclear, there are two recovery paths depending on whether you saved your backup key during setup. If you have the 16-digit backup key, you can restore access yourself in minutes. If you do not, contact support@maclear.ch with a selfie holding your passport or national ID — the team will unblock your account within 1–5 business days.

I have my backup key — how do I restore access?

Open Google Authenticator, tap "+" and add the account again using the saved 16-digit key. Delete the old entry to avoid confusion. Your 2FA codes will start generating immediately.

I don't have my backup key — what do I do?

Contact support@maclear.ch and send a selfie holding your passport or national ID. After the documents are confirmed, your 2FA will be unbound within 1–5 business days — after which you can set it up again and choose any available method.

Why is my Maclear 2FA code incorrect?

  • The code changes every 30 seconds — if it expired, wait for the next one and enter it immediately.

  • Check that you are using the code for the correct Maclear account if multiple accounts are bound to your app.

  • Make sure your device time is set to automatic. Incorrect time settings are the most common cause of invalid codes.

  • On your smartphone (iOS or Android), go to Settings → Time correction for codes in the Authenticator app.

  • Enable 24-hour time mode in your device settings.

  • After five incorrect attempts, 2FA will be locked for 2 hours.
