Maclear verification has two parts: identity verification (KYC) and proof of address (POA). KYC comes first; POA unlocks deposits and investing. Both are required before any financial activity on the platform. Verification is processed through Sumsub.
Which documents are accepted for identity verification on Maclear?
One of the following:
Passport — any country of issue, must be valid
National ID card — government-issued, valid
Residence permit — valid and not expiring within one month
All documents must be government-issued. Expired documents and documents expiring within one month are rejected.
Which documents are accepted as Proof of Address (POA) on Maclear?
Any of the following, issued within the last 3 months, showing your full name and residential address:
Document type | Examples |
Government document | Government statement, voter registration, tax bill |
Utility / telecom | Utility bill, telecom bill |
Bank | Bank letter, bank statement — neobank documents not accepted automatically* |
Mobile operator | Mobile operator bill or statement |
Other | Lease agreement or insurance (must be currently active) |
*If a neobank statement (Revolut, N26, Monzo) is your only option, contact support@maclear.ch for manual review before submitting.
Passports, national ID cards, and residence permits are not accepted as POA.
What is NOT accepted as Proof of Address on Maclear?
These are the most common submission errors — all result in rejection:
Screenshots of online banking instead of a downloaded PDF statement
Documents older than 3 months
Email notifications, order confirmations, or delivery notices
Documents without a full residential address
Documents without your full name
Documents issued under a different name from your Maclear account
Cropped, edited, or partially visible documents
Neobank statements submitted without prior approval from support
Can I send a scan or photo of my passport to Maclear?
No. Verification runs in real time through Sumsub and requires a live photo taken directly in the app. Pre-taken photos and static scans are not accepted. A smartphone with a working camera is strongly recommended — desktop cameras produce lower-quality images and increase the chance of rejection.
Can I cover up information on my ID or POA document?
No. Every field must remain fully visible. Covering or blurring any part of your document causes automatic rejection — this applies to both identity documents and proof of address.
What should I do if I changed my residential address?
Send a new POA document to support@maclear.ch. The document must meet the standard requirements: issued within the last 3 months, clearly showing your full name and updated residential address. Address changes cannot be made through the platform's self-service settings.
Do neobank statements work for POA on Maclear?
Not automatically. Statements from neobanks such as Revolut, N26, and Monzo are not accepted as standard POA. If a neobank statement is the only document available, contact support@maclear.ch for manual review before submitting.
Can I use a passport issued by a non-EU country?
Yes. Maclear accepts passports from any country, provided the document is valid and you are a resident of one of the supported countries. The passport's country of issue does not need to match your country of residence. For the full list of supported countries, see Article.
