What happens if a Maclear borrower repays the loan ahead of schedule?

If a borrower repays the loan ahead of schedule, you receive your full principal plus interest accrued for the actual loan duration. Maclear guarantees a minimum interest period of three months — even if the loan is repaid earlier, you will receive interest for at least three months.

What you receive on early repayment

Early repayment means the borrower settles the remaining loan balance before the scheduled end date. In this case:

  • Principal — the full invested amount is returned to your Available balance

  • Interest — calculated on the actual number of days the loan was active, with a guaranteed minimum of three months

    • There is no penalty for you as an investor in an early repayment scenario. The three-month minimum guarantee protects investors from very short loan durations that would otherwise generate minimal returns.

    What happens next

    After early repayment, your funds are credited to your Available balance and are free to be reinvested in other projects. The project moves to Repaid status in your account history.

    How much interest do I receive if the borrower repays early?

    You receive interest for the actual duration of the loan, with a guaranteed minimum of three months. If the borrower repays after two months, you still receive interest for three months. If the loan ran for six months before early repayment, you receive interest for all six months.

    What happens to my funds after early repayment?

    Your principal and accrued interest are credited to your Available balance as soon as Maclear processes the repayment. The funds are immediately available for reinvestment or withdrawal.

    Can early repayment happen on any Maclear project?

    Early repayment is a contractual possibility for all Maclear borrowers. It cannot be predicted in advance. The Repayment Schedule reflects the standard scheduled term. If early repayment occurs, you are notified by email and the updated status appears in your account.
