How long does fundraising take on Maclear and what happens if the target is not reached?

Fundraising on Maclear projects runs for up to 30 days, though most projects reach their target before the deadline. If a project does not meet its minimum funding target by the deadline, it is marked as Not Funded and all Reserved investor funds are automatically returned to their Available balance — no action is required from investors.

Fundraising timeline

When a project enters Open status, a fundraising period begins. Borrowers are advised to keep their projects open for up to 30 days. In practice, many projects are fully funded before the deadline. Once the target amount is reached, the project moves to Prefunded status — the fundraising period closes regardless of how much time remains.

If the target has not been reached and the deadline is approaching, the borrower may request an extension of the fundraising period. Whether an extension is granted is at Maclear's discretion.

What happens if the target is not reached

If the minimum funding target is not met by the deadline, the project receives Not Funded status. At that point:

  • All Reserved funds are immediately released and returned to your Available balance
  • The project is marked as unsuccessful on the platform
  • No further action is required from investors

Funds returned from a Not Funded project are available for reinvestment immediately.

What happens if a Maclear project does not reach its funding target?

The project is marked as Not Funded. All Reserved investor funds are automatically returned to the Available balance — no action, no waiting period, no manual request required. This applies equally whether the project failed to reach the minimum target amount or the full target.

Can the fundraising period be extended on Maclear?

Yes, in some cases. If a project has not reached its target within the initial timeframe, the borrower may apply for an extension. Extensions are not automatic and are subject to Maclear's review. Investors are notified of any changes to the fundraising timeline via project notifications.

How will I know when a project I invested in has been funded?

You will receive an email notification when the project transitions from Prefunded to Funded. You will also receive links to the Repayment Schedule and Claim Assignment Agreement at that point. Project status updates are visible at all times in your account under My Investments.

How does Maclear select and verify borrowers: due diligence process and listing criteria

Every Maclear borrower passes a three-stage due diligence process before listing: documentation review (statutory docs, ownership, credit bureau extracts), AML and KYB background checks against international watchlists, and a 40-question questionnaire alongside financial analysis covering balance sheets, P&L, debt-to-equity ratio, and collateral. Projects below Maclear's risk threshold are rejected before investors see them.
